Power Quality Manager

SESTERTii inc has been asked to identify a PQ Manager to spear a new departmental function withing our client's engineering corps. This pivotal role reports directly to the Dir. Engineering and works closely with stakeholders in Reliability Operations to assure our clients strategic initiatives are met. Specifically, this manager will be tasked in working with members on service issues, existing within the member's facility or on the distribution system. Currently there are no direct reports for the manager, but future growth positions are in the overall scheme.

Salary Range: $83,000 - 100,000 (Commensurate to Experience, but Negotiable)
Location: Texas

* PE, or ability to obtain a PE, in the State of TX within 1 years of accepting the position.

NERC Standards (Complaince) Engineer

NERC Standards (Compliance) Engineer

Location: Southeast US
Pay: Commensurate to Experience (Ballpark: $95-105)

Primary Responsibility: Ensure full compliance with NERC and other reliability monitoring and market monitoring enforcement programs, under supervised director and working with the limits of pre-established policies.

Generation Dispatch: Responsible with communicating directly with Balancing Authorities, Energy footprint participants and generation operators regarding the status of generation units and real-time offers. Partner with Reliability Coordinators to maintain reliability. Specifically, we are seeking a BSEE, NERC Certification, or the ability to obtain NERC Certification within 6 months of employment, as well as one (1) year of experience in generation system dispatch, merchant operations, nuclear operations, generation operational planning or power accounting.

Balancing Authority Operator: Responsible for performing the real-time economic dispatch functions of the energy market as well as the BA function of the generation dispatching. 24x7 support in real-time operations. NERC Reliability Authority Certification required, or, the ability to acquire such certification within 6 months of employment is necessary. We are seeking (minimally) five (5) years of transferable experience.

Reliability Coordinator: Responsible to monitor and maintain the reliability of the transmission system. Specifically, we are seeking three (3) years of electric operations and transmission services experience and NERC Certification.

SESTERTii is seeking an engineer interested and capable of performing engineering studies  both analytically and economically, upon the various model, algorithms and processes used to operate the energy market. The core focus of this position will be to identify and provide economical and reliable improvements to the electric markets performance, operation, and planning.

To be considered for the Senior level role you must have four years of directly related experience, and, possess a BSEE. Directly related experience shall include system operations, market analysis or system planning within the energy industry; while also having at least one year of experience in the design and development of software systems for power markets. [Consideration will also be given to candidates with two (2+) years of experience for an Engineer II level role].

Distribution Applications Tech. (SCADA // Substations)

SESTERTii inc has been charged to identify an engineer or tech. capable of configuring and maintaining a SCADA (OSI) system and improve all the efficiency, reliability and to prevent damage to our clients electric distribution system.

Direct responsibilities will include configuring, installation and maintenance of the control system for running customer-owned distributed generation to reduce the company's demand charges, avoid fines and improve efficiency; similar work for running Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR).

Specifically, we are seeking (minimally) an Associated Degree in Electrical Technology or similar applicable degree (or combination of relevant experience). 3+ years of Utility work experience with SCADA systems, communication systems within substations, and we strong prefer familiarity with Schweitzer communication processors and controls.

POSITION FILLED: Construction - Project Manager


Project Manager – Utility Construction Services
Connecticut (Relocation Package Available)
Salary: Commensurate to Experience (Likely: $103,000 – 112,000)

SESTERTii inc has been retained to identify an exemplary PMP-type Project Manager with experience in utility construction. We are not seeking an on-site type of PM however, but a soup-to-nuts, high-view PM with the capability to taking vacant land through the process (rick assessment, scope, timelines, etc.). We require a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering, or related, and minimally eight (8) years of related technical and project management experience in a construction environment or electric utility (including project management experience in Transmission and Distribution). We are seeking demonstrable project management effectiveness leading cross-functional teams to successful completion of electrical engineering and/or construction projects.

The selected candidate will provide management for multimillion dollar, multi-year (large and complex) distribution projects associated with our clients 10-year plan. Manage a defined program of electric system projects for which engineering and/or construction may be provided principally by external resources (contractor/consultant). 

Participation in the development and implementation of PM process improvements across the company will be required. Additional responsibilities will include:
  • ·         Providing project management leading, coaching and mentoring to project-team members;
  • ·         Serving as assistant PM for other large, complex projects or programs.
